I brought the kid's digital camera with us on our recent trip to Montreal.  She was so into it, it took us three times as long to walk a city block as it would have if she didn't want to stop every few paces to aim her camera at something. Still, I was super proud. This was the same camera I used to photograph her with when she was a baby, and now she's using it 

I set up a flickr account for her shots with her transcribed descriptions. Leave her a comment, she'll be really thrilled.

After I gave those cameras to the kids of the Georgia Street neighborhood, my daughter quietly asked if she, too, could have a camera. I let her use our old Kodak Easyshare a few days later at the Belle Isle Conservatory and she took some pretty great pictures of some beautiful flowers. I'm going to have to get this kid a flickr account.
